Planning Commission Will Consider Year-Round Amusement Park At Hawes Farms

The Shasta County Planning Commission will consider Thursday a zoning change that would allow an expansion of agri-tainment activities at Historic Hawes Farm. The location at Dersch and Deschutes Road has long hosted seasonal activities in the fall, a farm supply store, and a produce stand. The land has been in the family for more than 150 years. Greg Hawes has purchased a collection of carnival rides and he wants to be open year-round with a full fledged amusement park. Neighbors have expressed concerns about traffic, noise, fire safety and water usage. The meeting is at 2 O’clock this afternoon in the Supervisors Chambers.
