Police Say Convicted Sex Offender Was Dealing Drugs

A registered sex offender was arrested on Thursday in north Redding as part of an ongoing drug investigation. Police had suspected that Stanley Williams of Shasta Lake City was distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl in Redding. When officers saw Williams driving with a couple of passengers on Lake Boulevard, they pulled him over and searched, reportedly finding a sock hidden in his pants that contained 24 grams of fentanyl and almost 40 grams of methamphetamine. Officers also reported finding evidence of sales, including a scale, packaging, a lot of cash, and text messages on his phone discussing drug deals. Williams has many prior weapon and drug arrests, and served time for committing lewd acts with a child under 14. Those priors can greatly increase his potential penalty under the new Proposition 36 laws.
