Changes to a document that guides policy on millions of acres of federal land will be discussed during a community meeting this Thursday. Shasta-Trinity National Forest officials will go over the draft environmental impact statement for the Northwest Forest Plan. The Plan was first created in 1994 to balance conservation of wildlife habitat with the needs of local communities. The updated plan seeks to reduce wildfire risks and support sustainable timber and restoration work, as well as honoring input from tribal communities. Forest Service experts can answer questions and public input will be gathered. The meeting is at Shasta College on the Student Center Stage from 5 to 7 Thursday evening. It’ll be streamed live on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest Facebook page.
