The lights went off at 2AM for more than 3,800 Shasta County PG&E customers and more than 3,200 in Tehama County. A Public Safety Power Shutoff has been initiated due to dry winds of up to 40 miles an hour from the north, low humidity and temperatures Wednesday expected in the upper 90s. A total of about 8,400 customers in 8 counties are affected, mostly in Shasta and Tehama Counties. The affected customers have been notified individually. Re-energizing may begin as early as Wednesday afternoon if the all clear is given by line inspectors searching for damage.
