Next Tuesday night the Redding City Council is expected to lay the preliminary groundwork for a renewed lease agreement with the Rodeo Association. The current lease for the Rodeo Grounds won’t expire until 2029, and there’s no major opposition to the Rodeo, but the Association has been eager to secure a renewal before the completion of the Riverfront Specific Plan. The letter of intent calls for a new 25 year lease with 2 optional 10 year extensions. An estimated $12 Million worth of renovations would be required, as well as expanding the use of the grounds for other community events.
