The Park Service will conduct a prescribed burn Saturday at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. Between Noon and 6PM, fire managers plan to torch 225 acres on the east side of Kennedy Memorial Drive between Highway 299 and Whiskeytown Dam. Officials say the vast majority of the park burned up during the Carr Fire in 2018, but a lot of vegetation has regrown since then.
Cal-Fire is continuing a burn in the Oak Run area that started Thursday. The Dash Ranch Vegetation Management Project is on the south side of Oak Run Road at the top of Carpenter Grade. Around 500 acres of non-native weeds and brush is being torched, as weather conditions allow.
