Progress Continues On North State Fires

Containment on the Park Fire improves daily, now at 89%. The perimeter is not expected to grow beyond the current 429,603 acres. 709 structures were destroyed by the Park Fire. All evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted. All roads have reopened though CalTrans is doing restoration repair along Highways 32, 36 and 172. Traffic delays could be as long as 20 minutes. No fire activity was observed Tuesday but crews are wary of flare-ups as the temperatures rise and the humidity drops. There are more than 2,000 personnel still on scene.

The Boise Fire remains at just over 12,900 acres, now with 43% containment. It started August 9th near the town of Orleans in Humboldt County. Crews are still struggling with access to the fire’s edge as many roads have become mired in mud. The Six Rivers National Forest and part of the Klamath are closed to the public. A number of evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect.
