RABA Offers Free Rides To The Courthouse For Anyone With A Jury Summons

While the Redding City Council refused to allow a parking enforcement grace period for jury duty respondents around the courthouse, Redding Area Bus Authority has been stepping up all along. The parking lot designated for court employees and jurors is not big enough, so many people serving jury duty must park on the street, where it costs a Dollar an hour. The Shasta County Superior Court is planning to arrange more parking and had requested a 90 day period during which cars with juror parking permits would not be ticketed, but that request was denied. However, a service that’s been in place since 1997 allows anyone with a jury summons to use RABA for free, on fixed routes as well as demand response. Details are at rabaride.com.
