Redding Police Get Drunk Drivers Off Streets

Three suspected drunk drivers were caught during a sobriety checkpoint done by Redding Police with help from the Sheriff’s Department Friday night. 932 drivers were screened as they passed through the six hour checkpoint on Lake Boulevard between Northpoint and Clay Streets. Five were cited for driving on a suspended license, three were cited for being unlicensed, and three were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The crackdown on impaired driving continued Saturday night with saturation patrols, during which 38 traffic stops were done, eleven drivers were given field sobriety tests and seven were arrested for DUI.
