The water flow in the Sacramento River will be reduced to its previous volume. The Federal Bureau of Reclamation says that the wet Winter and fullness of Lake Shasta is allowing for pulse flows to improve the chances for Spring-run Chinook Salmon to make it to the ocean and further the survival of the species. On Wednesday releases from Keswick Dam were boosted from 6,000 cubic feet per second to 11,000 CFS. Between this Saturday and next Tuesday the flow will gradually be cut back to 6,000 CFS. Another pulse flow will be done May 21st, up to 15,000 CFS. Lake Shasta is about 5 feet from the crest of the dam.
