The flow of the Sacramento River will nearly double in volume Tuesday. The wet winter and fullness of Lake Shasta is allowing the Federal Bureau of Reclamation to conduct pulse flows to improve the chances for Spring-run Chinook Salmon to make it to the ocean and further the survival of the species. On Friday releases from Keswick Dam were boosted from 6,000 cubic feet per second to 6,500 CFS. Tuesday the flow will be boosted to 12,000 CFS. Lake Shasta is about 5-and-a-half feet from the crest of the dam. The Chinook Salmon fishing season has been canceled by the California Fish and Game Commission for the second consecutive year. That goes for ocean fishing as well as the Sacramento, Klamath, Trinity, American, Feather and Mokelumne Rivers.
