Repair Groups Removing Hazard Trees As Park Nears Full Containment

The Park Fire remains 99% contained after burning 429,603 acres and 709 structures in Butte and Tehama Counties. Fire suppression personnel has mostly been sent to other fires around the western states. The repair groups are removing a lot of hazard trees using machines such as the “Feller Buncher”, which grabs full sized trees, cuts them off at their base and throws them into piles. A closure order remains in effect for parts of the Lassen National Forest. Anyone traveling in the fire zone should be aware of equipment moving around.

The Boise Fire near Orleans in Humboldt County is still 12,967 acres with 91% containment. A number of evacuation warnings are still in effect, but only one zone is still under evacuation orders.

A little to the southwest of the Boise Fire, the Mill Creek 4 Fire has burned 15 acres with 50% containment.
