Repeated Drunk Driver Gets Prison Sentence

A Redding man who’s had a half dozen drunk driving arrests is going to prison. 45-year-old Arthur Alvarez was arrested last December in Red Bluff. A CHP officer saw him driving at 90 miles an hour while swerving in and out of his lane and onto the shoulder of the road. When pulled over on Oak Street, he showed signs of intoxication and did poorly on his field sobriety test so his blood alcohol content was checked and it showed .21% which is almost three times the legal limit. Prior to this arrest, Alvarez had five other DUI convictions as well as a prior felony strike. He’s been sentenced to 6 years in state prison.
