Rescue Mission Needs 300 Turkeys To Provide Holiday Meals

The Good News Rescue Mission still needs a lot of food to meet the demands of an increasingly needy local population. The Cal-Fresh delays resulting from the government shutdown have caused the mission to see a 30% increase in demand by families who are not homeless but are suffering food insecurity. The mission is asking for frozen turkeys or hams and all the fixings, preferably in non-perishable form. Donations are accepted at the mission on South Market Street. The mission’s Stuff the Truck Food Drive last week took in a lot of food but they’re still about 300 turkeys short of what they had planned for. Another food drive event takes place Friday morning from 7AM to 11AM at O2 Employment on Churn Creek Road at Mistletoe. Other ways to help the rescue mission can be found at gnrm.org.
