Residents Begin Cleanup As Strong Winds Down Numerous Trees Sunday Afternoon

Strong gusty winds caused a lot of problems over the weekend, with widespread power outages affecting much of the City of Anderson and parts of Redding. There were also many reports of traffic light malfunctions, as well as downed branches and trees causing extensive property damage. Sunday a large Pine Tree fell and blocked Eastbound Highway 44 near the Park Marina Drive exit. Two people were apparently injured in a wind-related mishap in South Redding Sunday. At around 11:30AM a large tree fell through the roof of a home on Cedars Road at Riviera Drive. A 38-year-old woman laying on a couch was struck on the head, and a 46-year-old man who was walking through the room was knocked to the floor. Both were hospitalized with apparently moderate injuries. Downed power lines should be reported to 911. Outages can be reported to 530-339-7200 for the City of Redding and 800-743-5000 for PG&E.
