Retired Trinity County Sheriff’s K9 Passes Away After 10 Years Of Service

A Belgian Malinois who had a very long K9 career with the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office has died. Johnny started duty in 2012 with Sergeant Nate Trujillo. After 3 years working patrol, they transferred to narcotics and trained in repelling from helicopters. Johnny assisted in the seizure of Thousands of Pounds of Marijuana as well as harder drugs and more than a Million Dollars in drug money. He also did a lot of outreach demonstrations at schools. In 2015 Johnny was poisoned by pot growers and in 2016 he was awarded a Purple Heart after being stabbed in the neck. He recovered and went back to work before retiring in 2022 after ten years of service.
