Shasta County Supervisor Mary Rickert has decided to run for re-election next year. She had previously said she was declining to seek a third term in the third district post. In an interview with Doni Chamberlain in “A News Café” Rickert says she was inspired to run after a special one-item meeting on Monday that was called at the behest of Kevin Crye in his continuing effort to besmirch the funding distributions from the PG&E Zogg Fire Settlement. Rickert says it was a pointless display of personal agendas and wasteful spending, and not reflective of her fiscally responsible conservatism. Another Republican candidate for the non-partisan district three post is State of Jefferson advocate Winfred Carpenter, who also has deep roots in Shasta County.
