Roadwork On Buckhorn Summit Will Slow Traffic Over The Summer

Travelers between Shasta and Trinity Counties should be aware of some delays over the next couple of months. Cal-Trans and its contractors are starting a re-paving project on the Buckhorn Grade of Highway 299. A layer of asphalt is being removed and replaced with a thin hot mix asphalt overlay from the county line at Buckhorn Summit to around 6 miles east down the hill. Drivers should expect one-way traffic control with delays of up to 20 minutes during daytime hours Monday through Friday. The work is expected to continue through early August.
