RPD: 19,000 Pounds Of Debris Removed From Homeless Camps In The Past Two Weeks

The Redding Police Community Work Program has continued its assignment of clearing homeless camps around town, using crews from the Shasta County Alternative Custody Program working off their sentences. The latest areas include Veda Street, Placer Street, Buenaventura, Eastside Road, Lake Boulevard, a storm drain off Railroad Avenue and under the Cypress Bridge near Nur-Pon Open Space. In the last two weeks, 19,000 Pounds of debris was cleared from encampments, for a total of 681,600 Pounds so far this year. Early this week officers visited low-lying areas to issue warnings about potential flooding.
