Seven people were arrested Thursday at a South Redding home after complaints from neighbors about trespassing, drug activity, fire hazards and many dogs. The Neighborhood Police Unit served a search warrant at the house in the 2700 Block of Henderson Road. Officers reported finding unpermitted construction, unsafe living conditions and a lot of drug paraphernalia. The homeowner is a 75-year-old woman, which prompted charges of elder abuse against Paul Cairns, Nai Saechao and Michael Scott, who had allegedly been taking financial advantage of the woman for years. Four other people who tried to flee when officers arrived were arrested on drug-related charges. Code Enforcement addressed the unsanitary conditions and animal control took custody of 15 dogs.
