An Alabama man who’s been in Redding since November was arrested for the sixth time this week. 30-year-old Stephen Love was spotted in a stolen van at Lake Boulevard and Market Street on Monday. Three of Love’s six arrests have been for stolen vehicles. On JKnuary 27th he was arrested in a stolen car and released within 14 hours. He was released just 8 hours after his last two stolen vehicle arrests. The closure of one floor of the Shasta County Jail due to understaffing has led to quick releases for many defendants awaiting court. Redding Police say that’s a major factor in an increasing of car thefts, with 497 in 2021 and 523 last year.
