RPD Arrests Driver After Reported Road Rage Incident

A road rage encounter became violent Sunday night in South Redding. Police were called at 8PM about a driver of a Nissan sedan intentionally ramming another vehicle and pointing a handgun at the driver. An officer spotted a car matching the description on East Bonnyview at Nicolet Lane and a high risk traffic stop with guns drawn was done. 38-year-old Zacharry Gerhard was detained as the victim of the road rage was brought to the scene to identify him. Gerhard had a suspended driver’s license and was reportedly in possession of a Meth pipe, metal knuckles and an unregistered loaded 38 caliber revolver. Gerhard is a convicted felon and not allowed to have a gun. Gerhard faces a long list of charges. He’s in jail Monday morning on $35,000 bail.
