RPD Arrests Man During Shoulder Tap Operation

A minor alcohol sting was conducted in Redding and Anderson on Friday. Between 11AM and 3PM, Redding Police and State Alcohol Beverage Control did a Shoulder Tap Operation, during which an underage person approaches customers outside liquor and convenience stores and asks them to make a purchase with the decoy’s money. The penalty is a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours community service. 12 people were contacted and only one agreed to make the buy. 29-year-old Gavin Ottomeier was detained after reportedly making the purchase, but police say he lied about his name and then was found to be a felon in possession of ammunition, so he was booked into jail.
