RPD Arrests Two Accused Of Threatening Victims With A Gun Early Tuesday

A 23-year-old Redding man is accused of threatening two people with a gun. A few minutes after Midnight Tuesday morning, a man and woman were on foot on Hartnell Avenue when they were approached by two males they did not know, one of whom pulled a small handgun from his pocket, pointed it at the victims and threatened to shoot them. The man and woman ran away and called 9-1-1. Redding Police arrived a few minutes later and found two people who matched the description walking along Hartnell. They immediately took off running and jumped the chain link fence into the BJ Tire Shop lot. One of them, a 17-year-old, stayed there while the other, identified as Taizon Segar, jumped another fence into the public parking lot where he was met at gunpoint by the RPD. He and the teen both surrendered. Segar allegedly had a loaded 9 Millimeter semiauto handgun. They were identified by the victims. Segar was booked into jail on $50,000 bail and the 17-year-old was booked into Juvenile Hall.
