RPD Arrests Woman After Standoff At North Redding RV Park

An armed woman held police in a standoff in North Redding overnight before being taken into custody. A little after Midnight Redding Police were called to Redding RV Park on Campers Court, located off Lake Boulevard near Interstate 5. 50-year-old Brenda Ruscigno had reportedly caused some sort of disturbance and was confronted by a neighbor. Witnesses say she brandished a large knife and threatened to kill the man, then chased him through the trailer park. At one point he fell and Ruscigno reportedly tried to get him with the knife but he retreated to safety and called the police. When the RPD got there Ruscigno had barricaded herself in her trailer and refused to come out. Police threw a tear gas canister into the trailer but she threw it back at them. Police say she eventually opened the door and brandished the knife at officers, refusing to drop it. Shotgun-fired bean bag rounds and a K9 were used to subdue Ruscigno and she was medically cleared and booked into jail.
