The Redding Police Bike Team has been on trash patrol for the past week. Officers found several areas where particularly large volumes of trash had accumulated near businesses, on streets and on sidewalks. The trash was inspected for harmful items, and then clean up was done with the help of Community Service Officers and their inmate work release crews. The RPD Bike Team has been engaging frequently with the homeless population and, when possible, connecting them with services including shelter, food and mental health counseling.
