RPD: Bystander Rescues Infant After Intoxicated Woman Goes Shopping

A woman was arrested in North Redding for leaving her baby in her car while she was grocery shopping. Redding Police were called to Raley’s on Lake Boulevard at 1 O’clock Thursday afternoon. A 7-month-old baby attached to an oxygen tank had been removed by a bystander from the car, which was unlocked and running but without the air conditioner on. The mother, 29-year-old Anne Marie Melena, said she had been shopping inside Raley’s. Officers found that she was on probation for a drunk driving crash with two children in her car. They then determined that she was intoxicated and arrested her for child endangerment and DUI.
