RPD Chief Says Body Camera Footage Of OIS Will Be Accessible

Body camera footage from last week’s RPD Officer involved shooting will eventually be released to the public. Redding Police Chief Brian Barner provided the city council with an update on the department’s recently implemented officer body cams during Tuesday night’s meeting. He said state law required that once an investigation is complete, the footage must be publicly accessible within 45 days. The Shasta County Multi-Agency Officer-Involved Critical Incident Response Team issued a report Tuesday about the incident that occurred last Wednesday on East Cypress Avenue. 36-year-old Cody Levi Bailey reportedly reacted aggressively when told to leave private property and he was eventually shot by an officer who had ordered him to drop a knife he was holding. Bailey was released from the hospital Tuesday and booked into jail for charges including assault with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer.
