A foot chase with Redding Police Tuesday afternoon ended when the suspect realized he had no chance of outrunning his pursuers. At around 2:30PM a traffic stop by the Neighborhood Police Unit was made at Cedars Road and Kenyon Drive in South Redding. The driver immediately took off on foot and the two officers got a good start running after him. After he surrendered he was identified as 32-year-old James Merritt Hamby. He had four felony warrants for being in a car chase with police, resisting arrest, possession of drugs for sale and car theft. Police say he was in possession of Methamphetamine and paraphernalia. He was booked into jail with bail set at $131,000.
