Redding Police found an odd improvised weapon while clearing some homeless people from in front of an East Redding business. Officers were at a business on the 2600 block of Bechelli Lane, where several people had set up camp. On the ground was an assortment of items, including bicycle parts, old food, drug paraphernalia and trash. Leaning against a lunchbox next to 44-year-old John Novickas was a baton that had a saw blade and an animal bone mounted on one end. Novickas was arrested for possession of an illegal baton.
