RPD: Imitation Handgun Forces Lockdown At Downtown High Schools

A large police response and a lockdown of U-Prep, Shasta and Pioneer High Schools turned out to be for a misunderstanding. A little after 11AM Friday morning Redding Police got multiple reports that a man with a gun in his hand was dancing in the middle of the intersection at West and Ninth Streets. The RPD responded with patrol officers, school resource, the NPU, the bike team, crisis intervention and the armored rescue vehicle, along with a CHP helicopter. 19-year-old Marshawn Eaton and two associated were detained. The gun was an imitation. Eaton said they were shooting a music video. He was cited and released.
