In anticipation of a significant rising of the waters of the Sacramento River, Redding Police have spent the last couple of days near the river’s edge citing people for illegal camping and warning them of the potentially dangerous conditions ahead. In addition to issuing citations, officers also handed out resource cards with information about shelter, sober living, mental health and other services available to the homeless population. On Tuesday the Bureau of Reclamation said it would increase releases into the river from 5,000 to 15,000 cubic feet per second.
