RPD: Juvenile Who Escaped Custody Arrested After Maiming Man In Downtown Redding

A young offender who escaped from Shasta County Juvenile Hall has been recaptured, but not after maiming a man in Redding. The RPD and Probation Officers had been searching for the boy since his escape September 9th. A little before 4 O’clock Thursday morning police were called to Eureka and Court Street. A man had been struck in the head with a stick during a robbery attempt. He was transported to a hospital, but lost an eye as a result of the attack. The escaped juvenile was arrested after short foot pursuit. Redding Police are seeking witnesses.
