RPD: Man Arrested With Meth & Fentanyl After Foot Chase

Redding Police say a suspected drug dealer fought with an officer three times while trying to get away but was taken into custody. 43-year-old Timothy Yakaitis had been arrested February 26th, reportedly with a large amount of Methamphetamine and Fentanyl. He bailed out of jail and Wednesday police got a search warrant for him. At 6:45PM Wednesday night an officer saw Yakaitis in a car near Mahan Street and Rio Drive. When he saw the police car he took off on foot but the officer quickly caught up and tried to apprehend him but Yakaitis reportedly assaulted the officer and broke free. The officer caught him again and after a second alleged assault, Yakaitis forced entry into an apartment and barricaded the door as the officer called for backup. Yakaitis slipped out the back door and through a side gate, where he continued to resist but was taken into custody. A search of the car reportedly turned up 27 Grams of Meth and 38 Grams of Fentanyl. This time Yakaitis’ bail is set at $750,000.
