RPD: No Alcohol Sold To Minors During “Shoulder Tap” Operation

Redding Police did a series of underage alcohol stings Tuesday. It was a “shoulder tap” operation, which involves having the underage person approach customers on their way in to liquor stores and convenience stores and ask them to make a purchase, making clear to the target that it’s because of age. Te penalty is a minimum $1000 fine and 24 hours of community service. Between 11AM and 3:30PM a total of 26 people were contacted by the minor decoys and not a single one of them agreed to make the purchase.
