A 34-year-old Anderson man was eventually taken into custody after evading his pursuers, according to Redding Police. At 6 O’clock Tuesday night an officer tried to pull over a driver suspected of being inebriated. He failed to yield, leading the officer at slow speeds before taking off on foot at Parkview Avenue and State Street. He ran to the A.C.I.D. Canal and swam across, leaving officers behind. An extensive search of the area was done and Benjamin Wallace was found in a drainage basin near State Street and Akard Avenue. Police searched Wallace’s vehicle and reported finding over an Ounce of Fentanyl with evidence of sales and a loaded 9 millimeter handgun. Wallace has an extensive criminal history and is not supposed to have a gun. He was booked into jail.
