Redding Police say a shoplifting suspect they chased down tried to pass himself off as his brother. On Friday, employees of Target called police to say a man had loaded a shopping cart with goods and left without paying. They kept an eye on him until officers arrived, and he was still loading the stuff into a car when he was confronted by police. He took off running with an officer chasing him across Churn Creek Road to the Food Maxx Shopping Center, where he surrendered. There was apparently more than $500 worth of stolen goods. The suspect identified himself as 31-year-old Thomas Perry of Hoopa, and was identified as such in a press release. After being booked into jail, deputies found he had given a false name and was actually Thomas Perry’s brother, Shahn Colegrove-Perry.
