A teenage girl reported being sexually assaulted by a stranger Wednesday evening in the area of the Sacramento River Trail. At 6:10PM Redding Police were called to meet with the 16-year-old girl. She said she was sexually assaulted near the Diestelhorst Bridge, describing her attacker as a white man about 40-years-old with blue or green eyes wearing a black jacket, black hooded sweatshirt and black pants. The area was searched by officers but no suspect was found. Detectives returned Thursday to gather evidence and search for nearby video surveillance. The RPD Bike Team, Park Rangers and the NPU have added patrols in the area.
