Very early Tuesday morning there was a break-in at a Redding store that couldn’t have held much promise for a valuable haul. At 3:48Am Redding Police responded to a witness report that someone had broken through the front glass door of the Dollar Tree on Athens Avenue. Officers say they arrived just in time to see 41-year-old Jessica Cornell stepping through the shattered glass on her way back out of the store. She reportedly fled on foot but was caught nearby and booked into jail for burglary and fleeing police. The RPD says there have been an increasing number of nighttime break-ins at businesses in the downtown area.
