Intoxicated drivers generally want to go unnoticed, but one sure way to stand out was demonstrated Saturday morning in Downtown Redding. Streets were cleared out for the Rodeo Parade, which had not yet begun, when Redding Police Officers saw a vehicle that was not part of the event being driven the wrong way. There were people crossing streets freely and children were playing in the street as well, so officers quickly stopped the driver. They say 59-year-old Michael Murphy was heavily intoxicated and he was booked into jail for driving under the influence. The parade proceeded without further negative incidents.
