Sailor Killed In Pearl Harbor Attack Laid To Rest At Igo Cemetery

The remains of a sailor who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor were laid to rest on Friday. Fireman Second Class William Kubinec was 21-years-old on December 7th, 1941. He worked in the engine room on the U.S.S. West Virginia, which was one of the ships that sank that day during the Japanese attack. Kubinec’s remains were unidentified until a DNA match was made in 2019. The Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo was chosen as a final resting place because some of Kubinec’s family lives in the area. The Anderson VFW helped coordinate the funeral arrangements.
