One DUI arrest was made Saturday evening during a checkpoint in the City of Shasta Lake. The Sheriffs Office says 638 vehicles were contacted during the operation. Six DUI evaluations were conducted, resulting in seven citations for other offenses. The Sheriffs Office says that impaired driving does not just mean alcohol. Cannabis, some prescription drugs, and even over the counter medications can interfere with your ability to operate your motor vehicle in a safe manner. Drivers with a first time DUI can face a fine of up to $13,500 and lose their privilege to drive. You should always report suspected impaired drivers to law enforcement.
