The Shasta County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit has released a few details about the shooting death of a Lakehead man Monday morning. Just after 9AM deputies were called to Lakeshore Drive near Pine Street in Lakehead, where they found the victim with gunshot wounds. He was already dead and another man was detained for questioning. Detectives learned that both men lived on the same property and witnesses said they had been fighting when the gun was fired. The dead man had been arrested the previous day after an incident with the same man. He was booked into jail for illegal use and possession of pepper spray and possession of a prohibited weapon, but he posted bail and was set free. After interviewing the survivor on Monday detectives released him. Neither name has been made public. When the investigation is complete the case will be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office.
