Search & Rescue Teams Looking For Kayaker Swept Away By Fast-Flowing Kern River

Four kayakers have been rescued and another remains missing after the group got into trouble on California’s fast-flowing Kern River. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and a search-and-rescue team responded to the incident around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday in neighboring Tulare County. There’s no immediate information about exactly what happened, but authorities have been urging people to stay out of California rivers swollen with runoff from an extraordinary winter snowpack. The Sheriff’s Office says the search for the missing kayaker will resume Thursday.
