Service Will Honor 40 Who Died While Living On Redding Streets

Over the past year, Redding has seen the deaths of at least 40 people who had no shelter to call their own. The Good News Rescue Mission will hold their annual Homeless Memorial Service on Wednesday. Spokesman Justin Wandro tells us the event is held on Winter Solstice because it’s the longest night of the year. Although there were believed to be 40 fatalities among people living on Redding streets, the Mission only knows the names of 23 of them, and those names will be read aloud. Everyone is invited to attend the Memorial at 11am Wednesday at the Mission on Veda Street off South Market.
