A much anticipated mecca for bicyclists opens Friday in Downtown Redding. The Shasta Bike Depot and Redding Bikeshare is at the corner of California and Shasta Streets. A celebration by Shasta Living Streets and other bicycle and trail advocates and enthusiasts gets under way at 3 O’clock. The ribbon cutting ceremony is from 4PM to 5PM with speakers and other activities. Starting at 6:30PM there’s a live musical performance by the high-energy March Fourth Marching Band. The Shasta Bike Depot will be a full service facility supporting clean and active transportation commutes and tourism services. The goal is to empower people to get around Redding safely and conveniently by bike or by foot. More information is at shastalivingstreets.org.
