Updated numbers were released by the Shasta County Elections Department Friday. District Three Supervisor Candidate Corkey Harmon maintains a lead over incumbent Mary Rickert, at 55% to 45%. In the race for the Redding City Council two year term in the seat vacated by Michael Daquisto, Erin Resner has widened her lead over Mark Mezzano, now at 1,191 votes. For the full four year term, with two seats open, Dr. Paul Dhanuka has 40% , followed by Mike Littau, who leads jJoshua Johnson by 792 votes. In the Anderson City Council Race, with four candidates vying for three open seats, the odd man out is currently Stan Nuetz, who trails Bonnie Simmons by 82 votes. For Shasta Lake City Council there are three seats open. Daniel Ringwelski leads with 24% and Greg Watkins has 22%. Toni Coats is leading Janice Powell for the third seat by 116 votes.
The deadline to certify the election is a week away, and as of Friday Shasta County still had 11,054 ballots that had not been processed. That’s in addition to 21,660 ballot cards that still need to be duplicated, manually verified and re-tallied. The Elections Office has been getting a lot of help from other county departments in trying to complete the painstaking process in time.
