Shasta County May File Suit Over Law Banning Hand Counted Elections

The Shasta County Board of Supervisors will consider suing the State of California if the Governor signs into law a bill that bans running hand tally elections involving more than 1,000 voters. If that signing occurs it would happen Thursday. Registrar of Voters Cathy Darling-Allen supports the bill, and strongly opposed the canceling of the Domionion Voting Systems contract. At this point, there’s no system in place for a special election coming up in November for the Gateway School Board. The notion of suing the state is sure to be a much-debated topic during next Tuesday’s supervisors meeting.
