Shasta County May Spend Up To A Million Dollars A Year To Promote Tourism

Shasta County’s government is looking to spend up to a Million Dollars a year to promote tourism. The first step is a request for proposals seeking “an innovative and experienced consultant to develop a comprehensive and sustainable tourism marketing and branding strategy”. According to a press release, the county believes that selling the area as a year-round destination will drive sustainable growth and enhance quality of life. A successful strategic marketing plan must include several specific factors that are laid out out on the Shasta County Competitive Procurements Page. Inquiries can be made at 229-8244 through August 12th. The deadline to submit proposals is August 29th. The tourism marketing would be funded through the transient occupancy tax, also known as the “Bed Tax”.
