Shasta County Public Health Director Announces Resignation, Interim School Superintendent Named

More high level administrative personnel shake-ups have been revealed in Shasta County government. Public Health Director Robin Shurig has announced her intent to resign, and she’s apparently moving out of the county. Also, the acting County Counsel is now Alan Cox. Matthew McComber returns to his role as Senior Deputy County Counsel. Cox will take the lead position until Patrick Larmour takes over in April. He was hired by a 3 to 2 vote of the Board of Supervisors in mid-December.

The Shasta County Board of Education has appointed an Interim Replacement for Superintendent Judy Flores, who will be retiring in June after almost 40 years in public education. Mike Freeman will serve the remainder of the term until 2026. Feeman started as a Spanish teacher at Foothill High School and also worked as Assistant Principal at Anderson High, Principal of Mountain View Middle School and Superintendent of Grant School. He’s currently Associate Superintendent of Educational Services at the county schools office.
